COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course pertains to concepts and
principles of administration and supervision of nurses in varied health care
systems and other activities that are related to patient care management. It
focuses on five key areas namely: management, working environment,
administration, operations, and human resource management.
VI. GENERAL OBJECTIVES:
During
and after the course, the students are expected to enhance his/her knowledge on
administrative process in the management of health care personnel in the
delivery of health care services.
Specifically, the graduate student is
expected to:
1.
Describe
the nature of management and organizational behavior, and characterize their
importance to organization.
2.
Identify
the components of the internal and external environment of nursing organizations.
3.
Discuss
the impact of these components.
4.
State
the managerial competencies essential for nurse managers to ensure safe
clinical practice for nurses.
5.
Discuss
the different managerial operations needed to attain quality output.
6.
Explain
how nursing organizations develop and maintain human resources in the health
care institutions.
7.
Forecast
opportunities for nursing administrators.
